SMART WASHERS

SMART WASHERS aims at creating a connected washer for helicopter bolted assemblies.

The connected washer designed by JPB Système will facilitate maintenance operations by enabling technicians to quickly check remotely whether assemblies are loose, using an RFID reader.

This innovation is particularly useful in the aerospace industry, where bolt-tightening inspections every 250 flight hours can take 2 to 3 days of assembly and disassembly in hard-to-reach areas. Thanks to this connected washer, maintenance times could be significantly reduced, improving not only the efficiency and safety of these operations but also the accuracy of measurements.

The SMART WASHERS project therefore aims at making aerostructure maintenance operations more efficient, faster, and safer by leveraging advanced connected technologies. This 4-year project is co-funded by the DGAC with the support of the European Union (Next Generation EU) under the CORAC program.
